'Squeaky Green' Eco Shop
Goldstone Squeaky Green is an eco-refill shop set up to help our community access affordable, ecologically friendly household essentials whilst also reducing the plastic wastage we create from these products. The shop was set up under the Pupils Profit program and we are lucky to be one of just four flagship schools taking part in this venture. The shop itself is run by the pupils, who manage everything including liaising with the community, purchasing products, managing finances and, of course, running the shop themselves. The shop runs on the last Friday of each month and as the shop's revenue grows more products will become available.

Squeaky Green pupils enjoy visit from Ministry of Eco Education and reaching incredible target!
Squeaky Green were honoured with a visit from Lizzie Gimblett (founder of the eco refill side of Pupils Profit) and Paul Turner from the Ministry of Eco Education. Our esteemed guests came to interview a small group of Squeaky Green participants and Miss Matthews about the project - sadly there was not enough time to speak to all 31 incredible children who made our team this year. Lizzie and Paul are building promotion around the amazing work being done by Goldstone’s Squeaky Green with the hope of inspiring more schools across the U.K to become proactive participants in our fight against plastic pollution.
The children took Paul and Lizzie through the process, speaking with calm eloquence. They discussed everything; writing PING messages, stocktakes, ordering, stock management, promotion, selling, finance and why they were inspired to be a part of it. The Bottle Bros were featured for their excellent entrepreneurial spirit and success this year, as aided by the wonderful Mrs Winter, in reusing school milk bottles to sell as soap bundles. To say our visitors were impressed with our children’s knowledge of all matters ethical soap and business acumen would be an understatement. We await the video which will be released publicly in September, and hope that Squeaky's impressive 500 bottles reused total this year sets the standard for the next cohort of green-warriors coming into Year 6.
Finally, a message from Squeaky Green directly to you all. THANK YOU! Thank you for every snack snaffled, every bottle brought back, every product purchased - it has all contributed in our mission to reach this incredible target and we are beyond grateful for your continuing support. Keep watch, our revolution against plastic pollution continues this October!
